The taxes are collect from the guest, you do not pay the tax. The service fee is a mandatory fee, it is taxable in many locations.

Homeaway remits the taxes on the rent revenue to the owner and on the service fee revenue to homeaway. The owner pays the credit card transaction fee for remitting taxes on their rent revenue and taxes on homeaway's service fee revenue. Owners should pay the credit card transaction fee for remitting taxes on their rent revenue, and homeaway should pay the credit card transaction fee for remitting tax on their service fee revenue. I am waiting for homeaway to provide details of their tax calculation.
