ohst8er Thank you for your question. It is more appropriate to report listings you believe are in violation of our Terms & Conditions directly with the Customer Support team. It is best to have strong details and evidence of an issue rather than hearsay when contacting the support team. Please know that our Terms & Conditions explains our user agreement with those who use and advertise on our site, specifically section 1 - http://www.homeaway.com/info/legal/terms-conditions The Terms & Conditions also explain our limits to investigating and details the responsibility of those advertising on our sites.
Given that the only perceivable 'secret knock' to list on this site nowadays is A) payment of the Listing Fee and B) the promise of the subsequent, so-called Service fee -- both exclusively to line Vrbo's coffers: I don't see that Vrbo has any incentive to de-list, let alone to screen.
Here we have a clearly "anything for a buck" corporate culture. And on so very many levels. Heck, while Vrbo has perfected reversing many an Owner's registered preference to NOT 'auto-renew,' so too they willfully (IMO) disregard their own base-line rules for acceptable lodgings. In my area alone, there are many listings that clearly are within 'shared' spaces, and some (cringe!) that STILL tout supposed proximity (and crazy pricing) to an MLB All-Star game that was 4+ years ago: hello, auto-renew.
Wanna bet that removed listings aren't refunded the listing cost per entry?
Whether we -- or not -- report 'violators,' the onus is clearly on Vrbo to prevent these adverts from the get-go. I doubt that there's a "bouncer" team for this, but am sure that that's by design.
and I have posted before about this, but I occasionally get a crop of "shared" places appear in my area which is a complete violation of HA/VRBO T&C.
Renting out a Bedroom w/shared Kitchen/Bathroom etc. ala AirBnB.
Calls to CS are useless. They seem bewildered as to what the problem is and the only time I have had any success was when I reported them here to previous Moderator Erinn who somehow escalated the issue and they were gone within 24 hours.
