I just had a inquiring prospect tell me that she booked elsewhere because I had a "no refunds" (unless I can rebook) cancellation policy....
And I feel like I dodged a bullet.
If she started the relationship thinking she was going to bail out without penalty, why would I want to book her?
I hope you thanked her for booking elsewhere!
My stock anwer: "Enjoy your vacation!"
Even the grumpy can't hate getting that.
I always cringe when the first question is "what is your cancellation policy?"
I agree. She could have also taken out trip cancellation insurance to cover her flights, and accommodations.
These are our homes, that we take care in renting to the right vacationer who will respect our homes, and respect our neighbors.
We are not hotels, who only book beds. They have deep pockets and nothing to lose.
I expect she booked with a PM who had lots of "meh!" inventory.
I was reminded by my wife that our cruise has the same "no refunds" policy.
And the Amen Choir sings: "Trip In-sur-ance!"
