ohst8er Oct 4, 2018 8:11 AM (in response to hill5185)Hi hill5185, you certainly made me pause to look. Here's what I found:
Under My Account>Account settings>
So since that is still left unchecked, that's not the culprit... Then this:
Same as what you posted, and I can find no place to edit this. But the statement is true, I DO own and manage this property. However we aren't MANAGERS, we are owners. I know you know that, I'm just trying to understand why VRBO is saying we are. Upon further inspection, it seems to be a PP thing, I checked several otherPP listings and they all say same.

greggt Oct 4, 2018 8:12 AM (in response to ohst8er)After reading your post, I checked mine. Thankfully I still own my VR and am the owner along with my dear wife.

georgygirl1955 Oct 4, 2018 9:08 AM (in response to ohst8er)You are lucky to own your property by yourself.
I have a "Partner" who designates me to be the Property Manager

Re: The manager of this property?? No, just, NO!
sonenalpmammoth Oct 4, 2018 2:37 PM (in response to ohst8er)Seems as though I remember an unofficial poll a while back in which we were asked to report what we call ourselves. Manager? Owner? Host?
Wonder if this is something that stems from that?
Even tho I'm an owner and a manager, I just simply call myself 'host.' Its not confusing, not offensive, communicates caring, etc. I really hate the word 'manager' because it makes me feel like I should smell like french fries and be wearing a uniform with golden arches.
And because management companies have so sullied the term through poor service and lack of care with guests that I don't want to be associated with it. Even if it comes with free french fries for life.

Re: The manager of this property?? No, just, NO!
georgygirl1955 Oct 5, 2018 4:47 AM (in response to sonenalpmammoth)I dont lean to the word "host" because it is an AirBnb word originally meant to apply to a person sharing space in their home.
I dont "Host". I rent and manage property.
Different strokes for different folks.
I am also NOT a Partner.
I detest the designation of Partner with a passion. It is like getting punched in the gut each time they call me "partner".
I objected the day they began using the term and I still object.
Being called a Partner, when you don't want to be called a Partner, is condescending, insulting, grating, arrogant, controlling, and abhorrent.
Shall I go on? It is Sanctimonious, Patronizing, Superior, Disdainful and Egotistic, plus Pompous and Overbearing.
To top it off, I find it belittling to be called a Partner by a listing site. I own the property and I make the payments.
I have one partner in my life = my spouse....not HomeAway.
I cringe each and every time they throw the word Partner at me. It's been 2 years of learning subservience to the Master.
I have an issue with this. Just can't let it go.

twomoreyears Oct 5, 2018 6:57 AM (in response to georgygirl1955)georgygirl1955 - What do you want to be called? I struggle with that too. I usually say "owner" just because it implies more, well, "ownership" than "manager" or "host". Proprietor? How does "Premier Proprietor" sound?
And I agree with your dislike of "Partner". That implies equals - and HA certainly has the upper hand in this relationship!

Re: The manager of this property?? No, just, NO!
georgygirl1955 Oct 5, 2018 9:23 AM (in response to twomoreyears)I came up with a few alternate suggestion labels once upon a time, but I have put those ideas out of my brain.
I feel totally helpless on this topic...similar to how I feel when I have conflict with the phone company, or the tv provider.
But at least those monsters acknowledge that I am the customer, and they are the provider. They have a few competitors.
Thanks for allowing me to vent.

Re: The manager of this property?? No, just, NO!
bobbie32 Oct 5, 2018 1:51 PM (in response to twomoreyears)I use "managing owner" and I have guests. I do not like the term "renter" since I offer a short-term rental, not a long-term rental where someone must sign a rental agreement. I use a "guest agreement". Terms are just terms but they do mean something, and not always the same to everyone. I also do not like the term partner and am glad I am not a partner. And I consider "AirBnB" a dirty word. I cringe when someone calls their vacation home an "AirBnB".

Re: The manager of this property?? No, just, NO!
greggt Oct 5, 2018 7:41 AM (in response to georgygirl1955)I agree 100% georgygirl! I just cringe when HA calls us "Partners". When they start picking up a share of our taxes, HOA Fees, upkeep, I will consider them partners, until then they are just a Listing Service. It is the same as Walmart calling their employees "Associates", they are employees pure and simple,
I don't know who started this "New Speak" but the vast majority of us consider it demeaning!

georgygirl1955 Oct 5, 2018 9:26 AM (in response to greggt)Yes..... I missed the word "demeaning" on my list. Thanks for the addition.

ohst8er Oct 5, 2018 12:30 PM (in response to homeaway_community_manager)HI homeaway_community_manager, this isn't just on my end, it's on every owner who is a PP. I checked.
And also, I did call CS yesterday and they said they would change it, but it has not changed.
Edited: Called CS again today, nothing was pushed thru yesterday to the tech team or whomever they were supposed to send it to, so supposedly the person I talked to today created a case.

Re: The manager of this property?? No, just, NO!
ohst8er Oct 11, 2018 7:44 AM (in response to ohst8er)Just received the "official" answer on this:
Dear................,
Thank you for contacting HomeAway Premier Partner Support. I hope this message finds you both well. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know about the issue you are experiencing with the word manager appearing on your site
Our technical team has advised that the site is currently working as designed and is hard-coded to say manager. Our developers are currently working on improvements that may allow the site content to switch depending if it is an owner listing or manager listing. Applying these improvements will take some time.
Thanks, again and I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Re: The manager of this property?? No, just, NO!
ashevillelookout Oct 11, 2018 8:23 AM (in response to ohst8er)This makes me so sad.
I am the owner. I do it "all" with the exception of housekeeping.
Manager implies that there is someone else involved. It also means (IMO) that renting my property is going to appear as if it is not my HOME, but strictly a BUSINESS venture. Well, it's not; whether or not I am deriving income from renting my property, it is still my HOME.
No wonder the people that we have as "guests" think that we are a HOTEL and treat us and our property so poorly.

timthek Oct 11, 2018 8:30 AM (in response to ohst8er)Typical answer. "Working as designed". Yup. Just horribly designed. And always working on improvements. Just all of their improvements always seem to make things worse.
