Property of the Week

In case you missed my intro to Property of the Week, please take a moment and read it for more details on this blog series.

This week’s property hails from Ocho Rios, Jamaica! This location holds a special place in my heart because my husband and I spent our honeymoon here.  Take a peek at this little piece of paradise: Property # 327158vb

What attracted me to this property:

So many things make this property appealing to me. First, I love the decor! The walls are painted in the bright island colors that represent Jamaica.  There are many pieces of local artwork including amazing paintings and sculptures.  Second, the views from inside the unit are just stunning. Finally, the amenities are perfect for me and my husband. The pool is steps away. There are awesome hammocks, a private swimming and snorkeling area in the ocean.

What I love about the listing:

Many of the photos are wonderful. They show just how close the property is to the ocean and highlight all the great things about the unit and the complex.

The description also includes information about nearby restaurants and tourist attractions like Dunn’s River Falls, which is super helpful for people who don’t know the area.

The reviews are wonderful. I love that what I read were very detailed about the staff and the property and include what they enjoyed about their stay. These reviews sold me on the property for sure.

What could be improved:

The listing is well put together with plenty of details. I feel like bringing in a professional photographer would really help make the photos on this listing pop. Finally the grammatical and capitalization errors in the text caught my eye, and should be reviewed.  Making these changes to the listing would be very easy.

Property of the Week

As mentioned earlier in the week, I decided to start with a property right here in Austin.  Take a peek: Property #3579610

What drew me to this property:

The first two things I noticed when I was scrolling through properties was the cover photo and the headline.

The cover photo is simply beautiful. I love the open design of the space with the huge windows. The little design touches like the gorgeous light fixtures over the table and the cozy throw pillows are so cozy. I also am really in love with the live plants in the space.

The headline, “DOWNTOWN Crazy FUN location! PARKSIDE-LAKE- POOL-PRIVATE Elegant, VIEWS!!,”  is fun and intriguing, and made me want to go look at the property.

What I love about the listing:

The photos are great and show off all aspects of the home. The lighting and staging are terrific, and the outdoor space is very inviting.

I also really like the description - it highlights everything I need to know. The home has many great reviews, 78 of them being five-star - that's amazing! I appreciate that the owner took the time to thoroughly fill out the amenities page. As a traveler, I care about the little details.  I especially love that the listing description includes their rental license number. It’s really important to me when I’m renting a home that I know that I’m abiding by the local laws.

What could be improved:

The last property photo caught my eye, because it is a low-quality photo of a map displayed on a computer screen. It would be a quick and easy update to grab a screenshot of the map and create a .jpg to upload to the listing. Also, since the map is up to date, this listing may not even need this image.

Overall, I feel like this is an exceptional property with an amazing listing page. Kudos to the owner on a fabulous space. I'm definitely going to gather my friends and have a staycation at this property!
