Property of the Week

HomeAway has so many amazing properties! Each week I choose one and review it. You can check out my other posts here: Stylish Stays

My husband and I are huge hockey fans and we travel along with our team to other cities to attend games. One of our favorite cities to visit is Toronto, Ontario in Canada. Next time we travel there I’ve decided we’re going to have to stay at this property, it’s adorable! - 920380vb

What attracted me to this property:

This home is located near the arenas where we attend hockey games and other sporting events. It would be ideal for my travels.  It’s also not far from King Street, the central night-life district in Toronto which is great for evenings out. The other thing that really caught my eye is the open floor plan of this home. The way it flows from the kitchen into the main living space and to the outdoor area is beautiful.

What I love about this listing:

The photos are absolutely stunning. The staging is impeccable and the lighting is spot on. I wouldn’t change anything.  The headline “Boutique Home Steps From Queen St W” drew me in, who doesn’t want to stay in a boutique home? There is also a great tidbit in the “Read more about owner/property manager” section, which mentions the walkability score for this property. That’s great info if you don’t want to have to try to park in downtown Toronto.

What could be improved:

I really had to search hard for something that needed to be improved! This listing would benefit from some more reviews! The single review is delightful and I was pleased to see that the owner responded. I would advise the owner to follow up with their guests to request feedback and reviews to further improve the listing.

I can’t wait for our next trip to Toronto so that we can stay at this lovely house!

Property of the Week

It’s my pleasure each week to pick one of many beautiful properties and tell you why I love it. You can read these blogs and take the advice and apply it to your own listings. You can catch past posts here: : Stylish Stays

This past week I had the chance to visit San Francisco. While I was there for work I had the opportunity to be a tourist for a day.  I now understand where the “I left my heart in San Francisco” sentiment comes from.  I fell in love with this city, the beautiful quirky architecture, the amazing places to see and dine and the fantastic people. My property pick for this week was inspired by my visit to the beautiful city. You should see listing #708390vb!

What attracted me to this property:

Location, location, location. This property is in the Pacific Heights neighborhood and is steps away from Lombard Street, Presidio Park and many other of my favorite attractions in San Francisco. It’s also surrounded by some of the finest dining in the city.  The other thing that caught my eye is the décor. The apartment is very tastefully decorated!

What I love about this listing:

The headline of this listing caught my attention from the start. Scrolling through the pictures I was able to get a great idea of the layout of the apartment and all the amenities it has to offer. I also got to see some of the attractions in the surrounding area, so when I go back to San Francisco it will be easy for me to choose this apartment.

What could be improved:

The photos leave a little to be desired.  The resolution of the featured photo is not very clear and it’s hard to see. Also, there are several photos where the owner can be seen in the picture which is a no no when photographing your property. The bathroom photos could be so much better -the toilet lid should always be down!  There are 24 photo slots available to every owner and they should all be used to help with where you fall in Best Match.

Finally, most of the reviews have something in common that the owner really needs to address: the upstairs neighbors very loud. Has the owner talked to the neighbors? Is there anything that can be done?  Responding to the reviews with this information would go a very long way with the guests’ experience.

With a few tweaks to the listing page, this looks like a fantastic apartment to have as a home base while visiting San Francisco!

Property of the Week

Every week I chose a property I love and review it to help everyone with their own listings. You can see past posts here: Stylish Stays

I love the beach! In a perfect world I would sink my toes in the sand every single day.  This weeks’ property is chosen based on my love of the ocean and the beach. This beautiful condo can be found in the seaside town of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Take a look: Property #396752vb

What attracted me to this property:

I was immediately drawn in by the featured photo. I want to be on that beach, sitting in those chairs taking in the sun and the sea.  The location and building amenities are also pretty darn amazing. I really want to go!

What I love about this listing:

The photos in this listing are amazing! They are high quality and well shot. I love that they included photos of every room including the bathrooms and each bedroom. I think it’s terrific that they added photos of local attractions as well.

The descriptions are thoughtful and well written. After reading the overview I didn’t have any questions for the owner - everything I would normally ask is spelled out and easy to grasp. The reviews are colorful and fun to read. Knowing that so many travelers have had a wonderful experience at this condo creates valuable sense of trust and assurance. Finally, the owner should be applauded for their response time: 100% within a few hours! This whole listing provides an outstanding traveler experience.

What could be improved:

The only thing I would suggest is that the owner should respond to all of their lovely reviews. Taking a moment to say ‘thanks for staying’ is thoughtful and makes the traveler feel good about taking the time to write the review. Overall, this listing is outstanding.

I can’t wait until our next beach vacation! This home has won me over and I can’t wait to visit Myrtle Beach and stay at this condo.
