Re: Which wifi lock/hub system are you using that you love? Why did you choose that one?
u0999 Dec 5, 2018 3:08 PM (in response to denisea)NO wifi because I do not want to depend on it or have any hubs as we lose power often. erentallock with schlage be 365. have 3, very reliable and existing BE 365 deadbolt can be retrofit with their chip. search the forum, been plenty of threads.

There's a search function in the upper right hand corner of the community:
You can search with keywords there!
Here are a few threads that came up when I search for locks

Hope this helps!

Re: Which wifi lock/hub system are you using that you love? Why did you choose that one?
ohst8er Dec 6, 2018 2:03 PM (in response to denisea)Hi denisea, we have a Schlage lock, and we use Nexia to manage ours. It can be accessed online or on the app. We have our family code, a code for the housekeeper, a code for the handyman, and each guest gets their own code. You can add and delete codes at will, which is handy when you need to give access to a plumber, because you can give them a code then use your app to delete the code once they are done.
We like it because as soon as someone accesses the lock we get notification and we know exactly who it is, even from 12 hours away.

Re: Which wifi lock/hub system are you using that you love? Why did you choose that one?
sonenalpmammoth Dec 7, 2018 6:08 PM (in response to denisea)We use Iris, from Lowe's, primarily because we are in a somewhat remote area and it was easy and available. Iris uses Z-wave technology. For integrated locks we use Kwikset. Like all smart locks they can be opened or locked using my phone, I can change the code remotely, I can track who comes in and out.The locks do still continue to work when the wi-fi goes out, because the locks are battery operated and operate on code. I just can't change the codes or track users when wi-fi is out. Battery changes are easy now that they've changed their design a little.
Of course we also keep a traditional key in a lockbox in case of emergency.
What sets them apart for me is that they can be re-keyed (by me) to a new traditional key anytime I want. This is convenient when we change managers or housekeepers, etc, and I want to make sure that the old staff does not have access to the units.
The only downside for me is that they cannot integrate with IFTTT-- or at least not last time I checked.

Re: Which wifi lock/hub system are you using that you love? Why did you choose that one?
myrtlebeachgirl Jan 28, 2019 2:36 PM (in response to denisea)We have used the ResortLock 4000 for 3 years now and love it. We did have 2 bad ones that I purchased from an off company online both were not updated internally. ResortLock had to send us a key to update ourselves. We have had good luck with ours and really like it. It works off algorithmic and not WiFi. Couldn't understand how this worked until they explained it like this. If you put 2 number in a calculator it comes up with a number. When I send the door codes to my renters, I put in their dates and check-in/check-out and it creates a personal door come. I can make it active whenever I want for any time I want. It has worked good for us and I would go with another if I had to. I really wasn't aware that more units have the same door code for all their renters. I wanted to have a different code for everyone and that's why we decided to go this way.

margaret Jan 28, 2019 3:24 PM (in response to myrtlebeachgirl)I also use ResortLock 4000 and love it. I have had them on both of my properties for about 7 or 8 years. If you are near the ocean the RL 4000 is needed if you are not near salt water the RL 2000 is fine.

myrtlebeachgirl Jan 28, 2019 4:53 PM (in response to margaret)Not sure I remember why we went with the 4000 and not 2000. We are oceanfront but our interior entry doors are all inside. The Lock is not exposed to the weather at all. I'll keep that in mind when we need another. Thanks for the info.
