Re: Chicago Accommodation tax
feibus Apr 16, 2018 9:08 AM (in response to hattorin)Contact the Illinois Dept of Revenue to start. Then contact the county and city finance departments to see if you need a license or to remit any occupancy tax to them directly.

homeaway_community_manager Apr 16, 2018 11:53 AM (in response to hattorin)Hi hattorin,
You also need to be aware of this: City of Chicago Registration and What are my city's potential regulations?
With a quick Google Search I found this information*:
https://www.illinoispolicy.org/new-cook-county-hotel-tax-will-make-visiting-chicago-even-pricier/
http://tax.illinois.gov/#&panel1-1
Also, this company is who we've recommended in the past for all your tax question needs: https://offers.avalara.co/
Thanks!

*This is in no way a fully inclusive list, this is just meant to be a jumping off point.

Re: Chicago Accommodation tax
jfriedkin Sep 20, 2018 9:33 AM (in response to hattorin)You will need to set up accounts with each governmental body. State, County and City. With the City you will need to register and have a license. LOTS of regulations with the city and they have been on a rampage lately, denying almost 3000 applications for license.
