Thanks for your help jmarsh. I figured it out now. Hopefully it should come up after this comment.
Regarding your question: "Anyone know anywhere as competitive as VRBO for inquiries? I'm desperate to find another website like this but nothing so far. Any advice? If I could figure out how to start a new thread I would, how do I do that?"
Two words: Cyber Rentals. I have had a great deal of business through them. Highly recommend ![]()
I'm looking into that website. Thanks for your ideas on good websites. What about vacationrentals.com? Has anybody had a personal experience with this site? Thanks again for the help.
Jm, Vacationrentals.com is also owned by HA.
I've had very good results in the past 2 weeks with Flipkey.com ( much better than the same time period from VRBO). I also advertise on Vacationarentals411.com in their 'free" category and have had a few bookings from them over the past few years- not great, but it's free.
I suggest you search your area on any site to see what is there. I think some sites have better traffic than others, depending on the area. Maybe some sites advertise regionally- not sure.
God luck! Hope you have a great season!
Anything free sounds good to me. I will probably look into that if it's a free service. 2 bookings for free sounds great! Just had another inquiry through Flip Key for 2 weeks and I think it's going to book so I might just stick to the advertisement options I have for now. I appreciate all of you taking the time to help me and if you have any further feedback please let me know. - Jack Marsh
Anyone know any other free websites? Trying to stretch my adverisement without stretching my buck. Looking into vacationrentals411.com now. Thanks for sharing msdebj.
To be honest, you get what you pay for in advertising. The free sites, like earlier stated by msdebj, very rarely lead to good results. Get on VRBO, Flip Key and maybe Home Away. They are the best and will give you "bang for your buck." I wouldn't get fixated on acquiring "free" advertising because there is usually a catch, usually being low bookings.
kkoolz, although I agree that the best results come from paid websites, I think it would be wrong to discourage someone frome expanding their vacation rental advertising on free websites. It's a great tactic to invest in websites with proven records, but you just never know when those free sites are going to give you a booking! If each gives you just one booking a year, you can see what 10 websites can do. I would personally suggest advertising as many places as possible if there is no price....
Do you happen to know any of these sites off the top of your head? (Free)
www.vacationhomerentals.com offers a free trial. If you just google the words "free trial vacation rental" (or something similar) You should see some of these websites pop up!
I have some bad news. Not only will you not get any enquiries, you will not get your money back.
Wasn't there a rumor that home away were going to have a money back guarantee? Or am I dreaming a bit too much?
jmarsh86, if you google "homeaway guarante" this comes up. http://www.homeaway.com/info/about-us/legal/terms-conditions/HA_no_booking_no_fee_ This basically covers their guarantee although I have never known anyone to request a refund from home away.
What about VRBO?
If I ever have to ask vrbo for a money back guarantee...i might as well give up renting out my home.
They've got the best reputation on the web....and besides I searched for a guarantee and i don't think they have 1.
