The easiest way to learn about what type of information you can post on your vacation rental's Facebook page is to "Like" a page so the posts appear in your news stream.
My page is located at www.faceook.com/goldcreekcabin or just search for Gold Creek Cabin. Please reply with the link to your vacation rental's facebook page so we can "like" each others pages and learn from each other!!
Doug
Great idea, Doug!
I just "liked" your page. You are doing a great job with the updates.
My facebook page is:
http://www.facebook.com/sfvacationhut
Would love for you to and the other viewers of this page to give mine a "like," too.
This is a wonderful way for us to advertise. All of my facebook friends will now see that I just "liked" Doug's page. Many of them will probably click on it and learn about Doug's vacation rental ... especially the ones who are skiiers / hikers ... everyone I know loves Kirkwood and the Gold Country. I wouldn't be surprised if Doug gets a direct booking from one of them!

I hope lots more people in the owner community will post their facebook pages here so we can give each other "likes" and help with advertising.
Take care,
Rachel
Hi All
The Facebook page thing is new to me and I have just begun to create a page for my rental which can be found at:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kissimmee-Vacation-Rentals/147324935336143
Has anyone had any success of receiving bookings through Facebook?
Kind regards
Colin

Hi, I, too, am a FaceBook learner. I would like to exchange "likes" with other owners to find out how you are using FB to market and support your VR efforts.
Our VR link is: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Turtle-Cove-Cottage/205454296133365?sk=wall
I have "liked" pages for Gold Country Cabin and San Francisco Vacation Hut to our Turtle Cove Cottage FB page. (I was so surprized that it actually worked!!) Since our primary home is in Reno, NV with easy access to SF and Gold Country, perhaps there is some opportunity for owner referrals, as at least half of our TCC fan base lives in the Reno area. We might even come down for a long weekend and stay at your VR ourselves!
Thanks,
Judith
We're on FB, too: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Rose-Gate-Farm/206127429421469
I've liked everyone here, and though we're a LONG way from both California and Massachusetts (in SW Mississippi!), I really believe that networking this way is incredibly productive. It's been interesting to see what others are posting-love the "local events in the community" posts.

I love seeing the new facebook pages and the kinds of things you are posting there.
I have done "likes" for
Rose Gate Farm

Turtle Cove Cottage

Gold Creek Cabin

And of course our page is:
SF Vacation Hut

Now .... about vanity URL's on facebook ...
Turtle Cove, Kissimmee, and Rose Gate ... it looks like you have not yet set up your Vanity URL in facebook?
If you set up the vanity url, you will have a nice clean web site name to give people ...
For example, I tell people to just go to "facebook.com/sfvacationhut" ... you will be able to do the same sort of thing if you set up a vanity URL.
Here are the instructions to follow.
http://blog.hubspot.com/blog/tabid/6307/bid/6109/How-to-Create-a-Facebook-Page-Vanity-URL.aspx
Enjoy!
Okay, I now have a vanity URL--thanks for the very excellent (and very easy) instructions! Now to go add it to my email signature...

Hunker Down in the Smokies - This page was just added a couple of days ago.
Our page is facebook.com/paradiseinthepines
Its not updated as much as we would like. Some things you can do is create events for openings you want to fill. We also link to Twitter so messages created there show up on our wall and vice versa.
If you want to get more fans, run an ad on Facebook. You can tailor where the ad is shown and you pay per click. It was surprisingly a high percentage of people that "Like" a page after clicking on an ad. We set a budget of anywhere from $2/ day to $20/day and avg paying 0.30 per click.
wow, ashli, you've got a bazillion likes on your facebook page, it must be working!!!
do you ever get any bookings from someone who found out about you directly from facebook?
Hunker Down, I have pasted a link to your facebook page to help people find it and "like" it.

See directions above for getting a "Vanity URL."
(I know, it's a silly name, but that's what they call it!) ![]()
Enjoy!
Ashli,
Here's the link I found to your page.
http://www.facebook.com/PARADISEINTHEPINES
I love that you've got more than 300 facebook "likes," and you've got people doing facebook "check-ins" at your place. Very cool!
I changed the account name from my name to the cabin name for privacy reasons.
We were very surprised at how the FB advertising worked and it was fun to pick where our ad will show up. As for the checkins, I am not sure how they are doing it. I dont even know how to check in our place on FB. We cant see who is checking in either. There must be a way to find that out. We do have our place set up on Foursquare (https://foursquare.com/venue/19198338) which is another social media site. You can run specials and people can check in there and provide tips to other users.
We have had some interest in bookings thru FB and I think one directly. What we do notice is that it drives people to our VRBO and Homeaway listings. People will email and say they saw us on FB then again on VRBO, etc.
A luxury log cabin in the Smokies
Thanks SF for the infol. As I read through I think I need 25 LIKES to creat a vanitly URL. Not quite there. Soon!!
I liked your site too. Please take a look-see at mine. Hunker Down in the Smokies. Thanks.
