We are VRBO owners of a 5 bedroom 4 1/2 bath house in Malta NY (near Albany) and feel just terrible about the devastating loss that families have endured due to Hurricane Sandy and would like to help in some way.  This is our primary residence, hence you would be welcome to occupy the home with us.  We are not looking for payment except as insurance might be available.  Rather than more detail be given here, we invite you to contact us if you feel we could be of assistance in your time of need.  Our VRBO listing is #361338.

    pro_house.jpg

Bushnell Guest House was built in 1848 as a wedding gift for Catharine Bushnell from her parents. It now houses a small B&B, with two spacious suites, located 2 hours north of Manhattan and 5 minutes from the vibrant town of Hudson, NY. Each suite has a king bed and a daybed with trundle, to accommodate 4 people comfortably -- along with a private bath en suite. The suites also have cable TV, wifi, a mini-fridge and microwave. We would be happy to extend a 50% discount on our suites to individuals and families displaced by Hurricane Sandy. Our normal rate is $150/night (covers up to 4 people, including breakfast), so the discounted rate would be $75/night. When you submit your reservation request, please note that you have been displaced by Hurricane Sandy, and I will discount the rate when I accept your reservation. You can see more photos and make a reservation at the following links: Bushnell Suite, http://www.airbnb.com/rooms/244760 -- or -- Martin Suite, http://www.airbnb.com/rooms/244757.

Hi Beth,  Congrats on starting such a great service.  Our home has been labeled " a healing home" filled with love and warmth and protected by lots of angels.  We would be happy to offer it, upon availability, for the next few months to victims of Hurricane Sandy at a 50% discount.  We are located in beautiful Montauk New York, where those walks on the beach can do wonders for getting folks back on track.  Our listing on VRBO is 401473.  We would also consider each case and do the best we can to help.  We have been blessed to have had no damage at all, not even a loss of power, so we will be happy to " pay it forward".

    Re: New York

    Hi,

We are vacation rental owners on HomeAway. We live in Belle Harbor, NY which is in Rockaway, Queens. Our home was destroyed by flooding and we lost both of our cars. My husband is a fireman in Brooklyn and we have a 3 year old. We are actually looking for a place to stay until our home is habitable again. It could take another month or two. I have looked at all of the posts above and while all of them sound great, we really can't be that far away from Brooklyn. Manhattan is fine as long as its on the East Side, but that is really as far as we can go.

We are willing to pay and are willing to also give you a week or 2 at our place in Rincon, Puerto Rico.

You can look it up at www.homeaway.com/940124 and we also have a website www.puntasrinconvillas.com

As vacation rental owners, we know firsthand that taking care of the rental is high priority. We would treat your home as if it was ours. If there is anyone interested in helping us out and making a deal, we'd appreciate it.

    Sincererly,

    Colleen & James Brady

      Re: New York

I have a fully equipped cabin in the Adirondack foothills that could provide a nice retreat for a couple while they are waiting to get back into their home. Lake view, W/D, execellent cell phone service, approx. 4 hours from NYC.

See it on www.homeaway.com/116750 (cosy cabin w/ lake view) reduced rates for Donna victims, rates dependant on length of stay.

    Re: New York

I am in NY state, but quite a distance away from the city in the town of Ripley, NY.  I am right on Lake Erie, and have two cottages available.  Only one is listed on VRBO at this time, as I am a recent widow and cannot afford the second listing yet.  The listed cottage sleeps 8 max (including couch) and the other 7 max, including couch.  Both have all the amenities and have gas fireplaces for heat.  I also have a fully furnished one bedroom apartment, that could actually be two bedroom (guest room above it) in my barn.  I am willing to provide all of my dwelling units to displaced homeowners for the next 4 months.  I do need compensation, but it depends on how many will occupy the cottages and apartment.  Please contact me to discuss any details.  Carole at 305-923-0022  www.vrbo.com  #425034  I want to help!
