Has anyone rented from Patryce in Eagle River?

We have been trying to contact an owner with no sucess. We are unable to complete our travel as planned and the owner was very quick to take the down payment, but refuses to open the weeks to see if someone else will rent the property. She will not answer phone calls from our home number and when we tried with a cell, she said she was working and woudl call back. No call - oh what a surprise.
Can you clarify what you are saying? Have you cancelled your stay with her? Do you have a contract? What is the cancellation policy? If you cancelled, how far out was your stay?

We sent in a deposit on 2/25/2012, for the week of 7/14-21/2012. Patryce
was going to send a contract on furhter information. Since she did have an
"owner badge", we felt she would be trustworthy. On 3/9/12, my husband
called Patryce and requested she open the week up and if she could re-rent
the week, we would appreciate our deposit returned. We did not hear back
from her. My husband called and emailed again on 3/16 with no response.
On 3/31, my husband used his cell phone to attempt to reach Patryce, she
answered but told him she was unable to talk at that time and would return
his call on 4/5/12. No call returned. We have been unable to reach her,
the week still shows booked on the website and we are a little frustrated.
We are very reasonable people, but do expect the courtesy of a return
response from her.

Did you send the money without seeing a contract? How did you pay for it? Did she state a cancellation policy? If so, what was it? I don't mean to ask so many questions, but it's helpful to know what your next steps should be.

Patryce told me on the phone the cancellation policy would be a refund if
she could re-rent the property. She told me check in was 3:00pm on the day
of arrival. She told me she would mail a contract after receiving the
deposit. We mailed a check to Patryce on 2/25/2012.
We had the same arrangements last year with a rental in Laona. The Laona
rental never had a actual document, but phone conversations and payment by
check.. The Laona property was as promised.
This year we wanted to rent a lake property and decided to try the HomeAway
site. I have been keeping tabs on the website for the Eagle River property
and it has received 69 hits this month. So, I am sure it either has been
rented to someone else or Patryce is not as honest as I had thought she
was. I am sending her a written request by certified mail and hope to at
least hear from her.
