I just received one of these as well. Who do we forward this to in order to get this user blocked?
I have the same exact message.
I posted this same comment in another forum here, and it's being addressed. But do voice it here when you can. This is the support forum for Homeaway.
Hopefully they will ban this individual and find a way to filter this garbage.
They could probably filter out certain phrases used by common Internet predators, like - "I'd like to get to know you...". Right now, it's easy for anyone to come to HA and sign up as a Community Member. But, just blocking that person's email address is probably not going to stop that person from using different emails to send messages.
The insecurities [Internet] is making it quite a challenge to keep our personal information private, so we do not get intrusive messages, while we rely on the Internet for business. We need to reveal who we are to solicit 'trust' with prospects (during the inquiry stage) and we have requirements set forth by government entities to include personal details on our websites. It's a balancing act....and it's not easy these days. More and more legislation is being imposed on us, while we feel less and less protected from all types of intrusions --- online and offline.
It would be wonderful if we could feel safe signing up for a community of online members...that is truley 'private'.
Anja,
I signed up and within a day have received a scam e mail in my private box. How do I report this?
Hi Iwoods, Here is a direct link to Customer Support to report it. http://support.homeaway.com/
Hi all,
We've deleted the spammer's account (thank you for letting us know about the private messaging spam)!
Also, as I mentioned in this thread, please know that we're currently researching ways to eradicate spam via private messaging all together.
Thanks for your patience,
Laura
Looks like they opened a new account. I received the same message this morning. My email notification said it was from jeeeeb and the private message was the same as other's have report from Jelin (sp?).
Same here. It was addressed to about twenty names.
