Is anyone experiencing difficulty getting a homeowners policy written in the state of Florida for your rental? According to everyone I have spooken with they say in Florida policies have changed for 2012. They are written under only 3 conditions which cannot be combined 1) Owner occupied (6 months or more per year) 2) Rental property 3) Vacant. No policies can be written for rentals except through the state with Citizens and the covergae is exhorbitant!!! Over $2700 per year Thats more than my taxes!!! HELP!!!! I need advice FAST!!!
Hi, did you find another source for insurance? My vacation rental can be insured by Citizens, but for $879 which is WAY out of line. My insurance guy hasn't found anyone else to insure.
We have a vacation rental condo in Ft. Myers and we have our cars insured with Progressive. I called them and they gave us an umbrella policy for the condo rental for under $300/year. I would check with your car ins company and see if they can do an umbrella policy for you.
