Considering the early check out time, getting a complementary 11 am check out is not out of the ordinary, and after that a $25 to $50 fee may me adequate.

However, it all depends on the owner's priorities and his or her sole decision to approve it.

Your late arrival does not provide you additional benefits at the time of checkout, it is not like a restaurant that the table can take additional guests who would leave before your arrival.

However I would recommend that you talk to the owner, inquire if they have another guest the same day of your checkout, and if so, if he knows the time they would arrive. From your original post, some locations have only late flights and therefore late arrivals.

Also request the owner to allow you to check out offering to throw the towels and sheets in the washer and dryer, which are the most time consuming tasks for the housekeeper.

Finally, even if you negotiate a modest late check out fee, you may work out a deal where you could stay in the public areas of the house while the housekeeper cleans the inside of the home.

Hope these ideas will give you options at the time of negotiations.

My flight leaves at 5:30 pm, I would like to leave at 2:30 pm. I am arriving late at night the first day, at about 10 pm,, so I am not using more days than the contract states.

9am check out is a bit earlier than normal, but not extraordinary, depending on the area the home is at. That is a 6 hour window to clean a house.

The owner has 9am check out and 3 pm check in.

Owners need to clean the property for the next guest, and a housekeeper must clean this house as well as others in a short time period.

I am going on vacation in a few weeks, but the checkout is too early, is it common to request late check outs? Do owners charge fees?
