There are tons of ruin sites in Mexico but Ek Balam is the most well preserved of them all. You definitely need to rent a car to get there b/c it's off the beaten path but it's<em> totally</em> worth the day trip from Cancun or Tulum. It's absolutely deserted and you have the whole place to yourself.
